Dr. Ramond V. Pilgrim was born in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Isaiah M. Jones and Gloria C. Jones. Mr. Jones was a senior executive (assistant controller), and Mrs. Jones was a nurse. In 1981, Dr. Pilgrim's father received a new job offer and relocated his family to Grand Rapids, Michigan. Mr. and Mrs. Jones always expressed education to their children. Dr. Pilgrim, the oldest of four siblings, attended Ottawa Hills High School. He received a stellar education and had a successful career in multiple sports, winning city, district, and regional championships; in football, basketball, and track. Ramond attended Western Michigan University, where he graduated, majoring in Biomedical Science and minoring in Chemistry (Pre-Med). He is a Life Member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Past Master of Mt. Pavan Lodge No. 2, PHA, and Past Worthy Patron of St. Agnes Chapter No. 28, Order of the Eastern Stars, PHA. Ramond has earned five degrees throughout his journey. He is currently an Assistant Principal within the Detroit Public School Community District (DPSCD). Dr. Pilgrim has a story to share if there was ever a story about the importance of education, perseverance, and determination. "Create a plan and work it; life is a marathon, not a sprint."
