2023 Miss Rodeo Michigan

Khalilah Smith, the 24-year-old daughter of Carnethia Goldsby resides in the Automotive Capital of the World: Detroit Michigan. Khalilah graduated with her Bachelor of Science from Michigan State University, concentrating on the fundamentals of Animal Agriculture. While attending MSU she held multiple internships, including but not limited to working with the Department of Natural Resources of Michigan. Smith held a 4-year scholarship through the Order of the Eastern Star Organization. During Smith's years attending MSU, she concentrated on becoming a well-diverse student by having studied world religion. As well as being a part of the MSU Rodeo Club. Smith being raised in the inner city of Detroit did not hinder her exposure to opportunities afforded to her. She grew up to become a hard worker through cement work with her grandfather, but the farm work took over as she became more involved with horses. Mucking stalls every day in exchange for riding lessons. Horses became her apparent calming after being diagnosed with ADHD. For 3 years she worked hard to gain a horse of her own, which was her heart horse AJ. After dabbling in the gaited horse world with AJ, Smith was introduced to Rodeo. Outside of the equine realm, Khalilah enjoys fishing, hunting, or crafting new interiors for boats. Her mission in life is to educate minority-populated cities and to diversify the education system and career paths. Introducing more people to the life that was given to her from each one teaches one mentality.
