On the upcoming episode of the Dripping in Black Podcast, we are Dripping in Conducting & Honor with trailblazer, Dr. William Lake Jr. Over the course of his young life, Dr. Lake has accomplished many first, including being the first ever, Black or otherwise, Associate Director of Bands of the prestigious Crane School of Music, as well as the first Black Conductor of the school since the late 1800s. Dr. Lake speaks about his journey, some of the challenges he’s overcome, as well the passion he has for, and the pride that he takes in, being a Black Conductor in a role that is predominantly held by white men.
